Located two miles south of Duncannon, Pa. just off Rt. 11/15 is Cove Mountain Animal Hospital, C.M.A.H.   Established as a premier care, full-service veterinary medical facility, we provide the highest quality medical, surgical, and dental care for our patients.  As such, our clients come from many communities in Dauphin, York, Cumberland and Perry counties.

  • Veterinarian Alan M Schwartz

    Alan M. Schwartz, DVM

    Owner / Veterinarian
    Dr. Schwartz is a 1979 graduate of the University of Veracruz, Mexico. After graduation, he gained experience by completing his internship in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Dr. Schwartz worked in NJ for 5 additional years until he decided to move to Pennsylvania where he founded Clarks Ferry Veterinary Hospital (CFVH) in Duncannon. Over the next 20 years, CFVH steadily grew until a larger facility was necessary to maintain the established quality of service and care. In fall of 2007, Dr. Schwartz relocated his practice and built Cove Mountain Animal Hospital. Dr. Schwartz is an active member of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association. His professional interests include preventative medicine, internal medicine, dentistry, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. In his free time, Dr. Schwartz enjoys fishing, hunting, boating, weekends by the fire pit with good friends, listening to 50's and 60's music, and simply being outdoors. Aside from his wife (Nora), two daughters (Jennifer & Jessica), and two grandchildren (Cameron and Nolan), Dr. Schwartz also enjoys spending time with his dog (Lobo).

    Nora Schwartz

    Owner / Business  Manager
    Born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico, Nora was in her 4th year of law school at the Universidad Villa Rica when she met and married Dr. Schwartz. Although she does miss home, Nora is extremely proud of the success and reputation that she and Dr. Schwartz have built for their practice. Utilizing her legal background, Nora has played an integral role in the development of Cove Mountain Animal Hospital where she has taken on the role of practice manager. In addition, Nora also developed a successful grooming business within the practice. Nora takes immense pride in her two daughters - Jennifer, also a doctor of veterinary medicine who lives and practices emergency and integrative medicine in MA & NH, and Jessica, a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who practices in Duncannon. Outside of work, Nora loves to spend time at home with her family and pets (especially her dog Tutti). Nora also enjoys live music, camping, chatting with her mother (Ines), traveling, entertaining friends, cooking, gardening, and just relaxing by the ocean.

    Practice Manager
    Tanya began working for Cove Mountain Animal Hospital in October 2022 after being a client for over 25 years. Prior to her role at CMAH, Tanya has worked in different management positions in insurance and is bringing her prior experience and many skills to her hometown veterinary hospital.
    When she is not catering to her two Jack Russell Terriers - Thelma and Louise, she is spending time with her granddaughter (Jolie Rae). Tanya enjoys traveling with her partner (Rene), fishing and crabbing from their boat, kayaking, and sitting by the pool relaxing with family.

  • Tina Armstrong

    Lead Veterinary Technician 
    Tina has worked at CMAH for over 25 years. When not at work, Tina enjoys spending time with her family and furry friends. She has 3 cats (Chubby, Cinca, and Buddy), and 2 dogs (Travis and River). Tina is the lead technician and has played a vital role in the development of CMAH as a whole. She has been working alongside Dr. Schwartz from the time they were at Clarks Ferry and has done everything from working reception, kennels, exam rooms, lab, and surgery. Tina loves working with animals and that passion is what keeps her going.

    Faith started working at CMAH in February 2023. She has two cats, Soapy & Lucille. She enjoys painting, playing video games, and spending time outside with her friends and family.

    Shelby started working at CMAH November 2022. She is married to her husband (Levi) and between them they have six beautiful children and one dog (Shuggy) who is the princess in the house. When she isn't working, Shelby loves to go kayaking, mudding, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

    Receptionist 
    Martha started working at CMAH June 2022. She has two dogs (Sunny & Mason) as well as two cats (Rose & Sylvester). She enjoys reading a good book and camping in Gettysburg with her husband Eric and daughter Emily.
